Mexican Restaurant Opening At Downtown Summerlin Promises An Exotic Getaway

La Neta Cochina y Lounge in downtown summerlin June 27 2021

A lush restaurant with greenery, a tree inside and succulents awaits when La Neta Cochina y Lounge opens in August 2021, in Downtown Summerlin.

The 5,336-square-foot space features a lot of natural elements such as deteriorated bricks and wooden beams that form a trellis frame, and vines falling from chandeliers in the dining room.

La Neta tapped Los Angeles-based street artist Defer, known for his typographic work and distinctive hand-styling, to create artwork in the space using organic-shaped canvases with bold textile pattern designs that could be described as modern day hieroglyphics. Accent mosaic stained glass murals decorate the bar, while the restaurant’s focal point includes a 10-foot living sugar tree.

The lounge features woven rattan hanging chairs with a customized mosaic stained glass mural behind, a living wall-art installation outfitted with greenery, and blue woven tapestries embellished with various sized chandeliers on the ceiling. A terrarium-style bar filled with succulents covered with breathable glass rounds out the lounge decor.

La Neta Cocina y Lounge takes over the former Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken space, as well as a vacant location next door with modern takes on traditional Mexican fare along with mezcal and margaritas. Owner and hospitality veteran Ryan Labbe’s 81/82 Group also owns Más Por Favor Taqueria y Tequila, the Chinatown Mexican restaurant with a secret speakeasy in the back.

Viva Downtown Summerlin, we can hardly wait!
